Morgan Abele is an emerging writer and director currently studying in her final year at Capilano University in the Motion Picture Arts bachelor degree program. Her artistic career began in theatre: directing, writing and acting in theatrical plays and musicals. In 2019, she was recognized for her work by winning Awkward Stage Production’s 2019 musical writing and creating contest. Morgan now continues her creative work, pursuing her biggest passion by working as a committed full-time filmmaker. Her latest short film The Feeling of Yellow was nominated as a quarter finalist for the “Best Super Short” category at the Student World Impact Film Festival. Writing, directing, assistant directing and producing in a variety of student productions, Morgan has most recently worked as a First Assistant Director for a short film in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada. Morgan values authenticity and creativity in art and hopes to use magical realism to shine a light on real, relevant issues and feelings in our society.
Morgan is ecstatic to be able to work as this year’s artist in residence. With the support of Three Shores, she will be developing her latest project Sounds of Glass, a sci-fi coming-of-age short film about the experience of sound and learning to connect with yourself and the world around you.
Get ready to witness creativity in action as she dives into the world of cinema and storytelling. We're thrilled to support Morgan as she embarks on her newest storytelling venture.
